Project

McDaniel Park Improvements

The Hatch Foundation is passionate about making the outdoors more accessible and inviting for everyone in our community. The McDaniel Park improvement initiative - developed in partnership with the Springfield-Greene County Park Board and TrailSpring- is an exciting step toward that vision. Hatch’s investment will help bring a lit pump track and a new pavilion with restrooms to McDaniel Park, creating a dynamic space for recreation, connection, and community gatherings. These improvements will enhance safety, expand access, and encourage people of all ages to get outside and enjoy the park. Located in the heart of Springfield, McDaniel Park is being transformed into a vibrant hub where families, cyclists, and visitors can come together, stay active, and experience the joy of the outdoors. Through projects like this, Hatch is helping build stronger community connections and spaces that residents can take pride in for years to come.

Project Details

Creating welcoming outdoor spaces where people can gather, play, and connect is at the heart of the Hatch Foundation’s partnership with the Springfield-Greene County Park Board at McDaniel Park.

Our gift will fund the construction of a 40-by-80-foot pavilion, complete with picnic tables and an ADA-accessible restroom, providing a vibrant space for community gatherings. Permanent lighting for the new pump track will make the space safe, accessible, and usable into the evening, encouraging people of all ages to enjoy the park throughout the day.

Located along South National Avenue and the South Creek Greenway, McDaniel Park serves as a key connection point for nearby neighborhoods, cyclists, and outdoor enthusiasts. In partnership with TrailSpring, Hatch is supporting the construction of a 15,000-square-foot pump track designed for riders of all skill levels, adding a unique recreational amenity that inspires outdoor activity and community engagement.

The City of Springfield has also invested in new vehicle access and parking improvements, demonstrating strong public-private collaboration to enhance the park’s accessibility and long-term impact.

We believe parks are where community happens. By enhancing McDaniel Park, Hatch is helping transform an underutilized green space into a vibrant, multi-generational destination that strengthens neighborhood connections, promotes healthy outdoor activity, and reflects the shared commitment of local partners to building a more connected Springfield.
