Ozarks Farm Stop
At the Hatch Foundation, we’re excited to see Ozarks Farm Stop turning downtown Springfield into a community hub where fresh, local food meets everyday convenience. By supporting this year-round, producer-only marketplace, we help connect local farmers, artisans, and food producers directly with residents, strengthening the local economy and promoting community health. With essential infrastructure support—like refrigeration and shared-use kitchen space—Farm Stop empowers vendors, fosters neighborhood engagement, and ensures Springfield residents have reliable access to sustainable, nutritious, locally-grown food.
Project Details
Ozarks Farm Stop exemplifies the Hatch Foundation’s mission to nurture community through innovative, life-enriching solutions. This project establishes a year-round, producer-only retail space in downtown Springfield that allows local farmers and food artisans to scale operations while remaining deeply connected to their community.
Unlike seasonal farmers markets, the Farm Stop provides a permanent venue where residents can conveniently access fresh, sustainably grown fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy, and artisanal goods, fostering healthier lifestyles and strengthening the local food system.
Ozarks Farm Stop supports more than 100 local farmers and makers, including 60 affiliated with the Farmers Market of the Ozarks and an additional 40 producers from across the region. With its expanded space, the Farm Stop is positioned to grow this network even further, increasing opportunities for local vendors while broadening access for the community.
Beyond retail, the Farm Stop includes shared-use commercial kitchen infrastructure, enabling producers to process goods, collaborate, and host educational programming. With Hatch Foundation support for critical infrastructure, this initiative ensures stability and scalability for participating vendors, strengthening economic resilience throughout the region.
All of these efforts contribute to building a more resilient regional food system—one that keeps dollars circulating locally, uplifts farmers and makers, and makes fresh, high-quality food more accessible to the Springfield community. By bridging producers and residents, Ozarks Farm Stop enhances the city’s sense of connection, supports small businesses, and demonstrates how innovative local solutions can improve quality of life across neighborhoods.
