Hatch Playground at Fellow’s Lake

The Hatch Playground for All, located in Miller Park near Fellows Lake, is a vibrant, fully inclusive playground designed for children of all abilities. The playground features accessible pathways, rubberized surfacing, high-backed swings, twirling chairs, and ramps to elevated play areas, ensuring every child can join in the adventure. Made possible through generous community support, including Kiwanis, City Utilities, and Abilities First, playground embodies our mission to strengthen Springfield communities by creating spaces where every child can play, explore, and belong.

The Hatch Playground for All represents a milestone in Springfield’s commitment to inclusive community spaces. S

Strategically located in Miller Park near Fellows Lake, this ADA-compliant playground was designed with every child in mind. Accessible paths, ramps to elevated play areas, high-backed swings, and soft, rubberized surfacing allow children of all abilities to climb, spin, swing, and explore safely and independently. Its colorful, engaging design encourages social interaction and helps children develop empathy, kindness, and an understanding of diversity through shared play experiences.

This project reflects the Hatch Foundation’s mission to nurture community and enrich quality of life through innovative solutions. Partnering with Kiwanis Club of Springfield South, City Utilities of Springfield, Abilities First, and Play-4-All, we brought a shared vision of inclusion and accessibility to life. Beyond play, the playground serves as a National Demonstration Site, offering valuable insights into community health and wellness. It stands as a lasting symbol of what’s possible when communities come together to ensure every child feels welcome, valued, and empowered.
